Who Am I?

Who am I? 24601!

I’m assuming nobody laughed at that

Apologies for the terrible Les Mis joke…

…but perhaps the first thing you should know about me is that I have a very weird sense of humour. I’m a choir/theatre kid, baseball fan, book reader, content creator, and voice teacher all rolled up into one!

My name is Nick Higgs, known on social media as Nick Higgs The Singer. The purpose of this website is to share more content with you (videos, blog posts, free downloads, etc), as well as give you some insight into what my life is like, and to teach you a bit about singing along the way.

On this website you will find tons of content all geared towards singing and music. If you are a music lover and/or want to learn more, this is definitely the place to be.

In fact, I am SO excited that you’re here and reading this that I’m going to give you my “Learn to Sing From Home” ebook completely free. All you have to do is click here.

My Training

I have been making music since the age of 5. Not only have I had fantastic teachers throughout my music education, but I have a musical family who inspired me and introduced me to a wide range of music.

After completing high school, I moved to Toronto to begin my post secondary education (Bachelor of Music) at the University of Toronto, studying with Professor Lorna MacDonald. Upon graduating in 2019, I remained at the University of Toronto to study a Master of Music in Opera Performance.

But this was around 2020, and I won’t even say the “P” word that came about that year, but I finished my Master’s degree and decided that a career in Opera performance wasn’t really for me. I decided to take a break from singing and explore other things, which lead me to the world of digital media and content creation, which I fell in love with quite quickly.

But my break from singing didn’t last long, and I ended up combining my two loves: music and digital media to create this social media brand: Nick Higgs The Singer!

Current Work

The life of a musician is an interesting one: you piece together many different types of work, and I am certainly no exception to this life.

Teaching: I am currently a very active voice teacher. I am fortunate to have a wonderful group of music students from over 15 countries! The beauty of online singing lessons is you can connect with people who you never would have met otherwise.

Content Creation: To build an audience of over 450 thousand across social media, you have to put considerable effort into your work and you have to be consistent. I post content on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Patreon, and more. I love sharing my own music, as well as creating content that allows you to enjoy and learn more about music. Choral Work: I currently sing with the Tafelmusik Chamber Choir in Toronto, Canada. Singing with a Baroque ensemble is a dream come true for me, and I look forward to rehearsal each week. Bach, Handel, Monteverdi … I mean, could it get any better that that?!
